Question: How do you know that John the Baptist did not appear to other people and give the preisthood to them also. After all, the New Testament does not speak of Jesus giving the priesthood to the Nephites, as the Book of Mormon suggests, and we do not know what other people Jesus appeared to to give the priesthood to.

We know through a book called Doctrine and Covenants. It is a record of Joseph Smith's revelations as he was called to restore the church. Do you know much about the Doctrine and Covenants?

Yes. I was not aware that the DC says no one else received the priesthood. The BoM says Jesus visited others, but the DC does not say who those others were. Where in the DC does it say no else has the priesthood?

So what you are saying is it does not say that in the DC. John the Baptist could have visited any number of people and given them the priesthood. Is that correct?

We only have a record of him giving the priesthood to Joseph Smith. In the New Testament, I am unsure if he gave the priesthood to others. What prompted you to ask this question today?

So John the Baptist could have given it any number people. So we just don't know if the LDS are the only ones with priesthood authority.
The question was prompted because I am a person with a deep sense of right and wrong and rational theological reasoning. The real keystone of the LDS is not the BoM, or even that they LDS have priesthood authority, but that all other congregations do not have priesthood authority, but here you are saying it is possible that other congregations do.
